This eyeshadow is easy to work with and buildable. I like all the colors especially cafecito which almost has a purple undertone. I have 40 eyeshadow palettes and this is one of my new favorites. Some reviewers said that it didn’t have a transition color which I didn’t mind because I could always use my bronzer instead. I have light skin tone and if I gently tap on strawberry milk I can use it as a blush. As for frappe, it is a topper shade and not meant to use all over the eye. I like to use it in combination with the other shimmers to enhance them and create a highlight at the center of my eye. Since I have light skin iced coffee can look a bit to dark on my eye so frappe can give me a brighter look.
Hello world -- I'm sad to report that this palette didn't totally fill my desire for a one palette to replace the rest. I was so excited about it as an everyday go-to after seeing it on Alex Anele's channel and watching Christen's demo. I really liked that some of the shades could be used as face products, like blush, highlighter, or highlight. More than that, I loved Christen's story about her grandmother and their special coffee times together. I am very close to my grandma too! <3 I'm sure yours was so proud of you, Christen.
Sadly, I think my complexion was too light and may be too oily for this to work as well as I believe it could! The shades are very pigmented and I found it hard to achieve a wearable everyday look - though I love the almost purple-plum quality that I can get from Cafecito for an intense smoky eye. Some reviewers have lamented the inclusion of two dark brown shades in the palette - for me, they were quite different in terms of warmth, but alas both quite dark for me to use as anything other than eyeliner. I would have loved a mid-tone brown to have as an easy transition choice. I've tried mixing the lightest mattes with these darker browns for a transition, but I have trouble getting the desired effect.
Second, I felt that Drizzle and Iced Coffee didn't last well on me. After a few hours, they had migrated and separated so that the shimmer was worn off in areas and the base color traveled up toward my brow bone. I wanted soooo much to love both of them. The other sparkling shade, Frappe, looks beautiful in the pan, but was a non-starter for me because of the larger reflect pieces and drier formula. I find that even as an inner corner highlight, the glitter drops into my eyes during the day which is very uncomfortable. Perhaps using with glitter glue or a stronger setting spray could solve that issue. I think it could be a great highlighter for a special occasion like a festival or club or dance competition, but it is too glittery for my taste and age (30s) for most occasions. I would love to see a more finely-milled version of frappe to wear as a daily highlight and eye color. I love the icy peach undertones!.
The highlights (pun intended) for me of this palette were the two lightest matte shades, frothy and cafe con leche. I can use them eye colors and face highlights. I especially like frothy's texture - totally creamy. Blonde Roast and Matcha are gorgeous and great formulas, but I have to be really sparing in the application to achieve a wearable look with Blond Roast since it is so warm and pigmented. Matcha is more buildable in my experience, from a delicate wash to an intense color. I've used them both in more artistry-focused make-up looks and they were so fabulous.
Strawberry milk is probably the only shade that works as an everyday transition color for me with various looks. I like the formula a lot! It is very pigmented as an eye shadow and blush. I do wear this as blush most days. :) Thank you Christen for this great idea!
I think this palette could be a wonderful go-to for someone with a richer complexion and flare for creativity to give those beautiful colors a chance to shine each day, not just on special occasions. The big pans and goreous packagin make this palette really special, and I love that I can fit a blush brush in. Very innovative!
Can't wait to see more releases from this brand!
I put this pallate at a top 10 for coverage and ease of use. Her liquid eyeshadow is also amazing and works well with this pallate as well. Thanks
